Attention scotch drinkers! My boss drinks Glenlivet single malt scotch aged 16 yrs.?
I wanted to buy him a bottle for his birthday but the guy at the liqour store said the Glenmorangie aged 12 years is better so I got it. It was cheaper so I don't think he was trying to rip me off. I am now wondering if I should have just stuck with what I know my boss drinks or if Glenmorangie is actually better than Glenlivet.Any opinions?
Best first scotch to try?

Good scotch, whiskey and bourbon for beginners.?
Im going to be traveling for spring break, and plan to try some liquors out. I never really drank much so would like advice for a beginner. For scotch, i know its more by region. i heard islay ahs the strongest smoky flavor, and i love smoke flavor, i eat smoked meats, cheeses, etc, and love them all but people seem to say they are too strong for beginners, whats a smoky yet less harsh alternative? Also, i know very little about whiskeys and bourbons. Can you suggest a really good scotch for a gift?
I am wanting to buy my husband a bottle of scotch for valentines day our anniv... So I am willing to spend a pretty penny $100 130 on a really nice bottle of scotch for him. He has always talked about how he would like to have a bottle and start drinking some. Even 2 semi expensive kinds that would add up to that would be fine too.I dont know if it matters, but he like beers like Moosehead, Heineken, Dos Equis, Sam Adams, and Becks. I know there are diff flavors of beer and scotch, I just dont know what they mean. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated This is a territory I know nothing about Thanks
How much is a bottle of The Glenlivet scotch whiskey aged 12 years worth?
I acquired this 750 ml bottle from my parents. It is the unblended all malt variety and was bought in 1987. I'm wondering if it's worth any more than a newer bottle. Thanks for your help
